Effective Christianity must at times be reloaded. Jesus uses war like terminology when announcing to Peter that, “Upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” That is a fighting term and disciples know they are in a war for lost souls against the domain of darkness. But like all wars there are casualties and reinforcements are needed. There must be a reloading in order to continue to repel and drive back the gates of hell. And that takes disciples who take up their cross by taking action in a local body of fellow followers of Christ.
