I conducted a poll over the weekend about the rise in spam on LinkedIn, and if it has affected the response rate of those who are genuinely using the platform.



Of the nearly 130 votes, 77% said yes it has affected them in a negative way.



If this doesn't improve on the user side, LinkedIn will take some sort of action against those who are using the platform improperly.



But what can we do to prevent and not add to the spam?



1. Only add notes to connection requests if you know the person, or if there is a personal connection.



2. Never use any automated services to message and connect for you



3. Do not sell or pitch to your new connection in your initial message
