ROUND 1 RECAP

The Young Punks division was our most volatile, featuring 2 of our biggest blow-outs AND one of our tightest margins. Underdog seed Robin wiped the floor with Hank Venture, tallying a whopping 77% of the vote. Not to be outdone, the Amazing Chin himself Ash Williams destroyed Ralph Hinkley, the (not-so) Greatest American Hero, scoring Round 1's most decisive victory with 82% of all votes cast. Ash could be a sleeper as he goes on to face Cinderella story The Monkees in Round 2...

Misunderstood Outsiders featured the most parity AND the most upsets in a division. 12 Seed Michael Myers, 11 Seed Popeye, and 10 Seed Egon Spengler all squeaked by! These upsets may illustrate the limits of our Seeding system – these were our most recent episodes, and may have seeded higher given more time to rack up downloads. That said, Egon won by the narrowest margin in the tournament - the Ghostbuster beat undead avenger The Crow by only 2 votes!

Dashing Rogues may have had the least surprising Round 1, but it features some of Round 2's most compelling match-ups! In the Battle of Nerd GOAT Hosts, Ed cleaned Ron's clock, as John Wick shellacked Harry Dresden with 78% of the vote. Ed next takes on his writing partner's GOAT: Nightwing, as nominated by Maronzio Vance.

Finally, Badass Leaders offered some eyebrow-raisers, including a strong win from Star Wars EU favorite Thrawn over the iconic Mr. Spock. Princess Leia dominated Dana Scully with 75% of the vote, walking away with a Round 1 Match-Up our hosts considered one of the best. Leia moves on to face Producer Bill's GOAT Superman, and honestly, he's a little worried.

HOW DO THE NEXT ROUNDS WORK?

Voting will continue through the weekend to establish our Elite 8. From there, it's a numbers game, as we compare margin of victory through the first 3 rounds to set our Final 4.

The Final 4 will then be debated on our 100th EPISODE SPECTACULAR, recorded at the Screen Junkies studio, with special pop-ins from all your favorite faces in the SJU!
