Ramadan Mubarak everyone, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ustadha Aatifa Shareef from Qalam Insitute, Ustadha Aatifa just finished her Masters in clinical psychology from the University of Dallas as well as an Alimiyah student at the Qalam Seminary. Born and raised in Columbus, OH, she graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies. She is working to combine her two fields of study by understanding psychology in an Islamic context and providing counseling for the Muslim community in America.

She currently works as Director of Admissions and Student Affairs at the Qalam Seminary as well as an instructor and Executive Assistant for the Qalam Institute. You may reach her at [email protected].

It was so great to speak with Ustadha Aatifa, she shared some great tips and advice for Muslims who can’t face during Ramadan or miss some fasts. The framework for this episode was based on the hadith of Aisha Radi-Allahu anha  Narrated Al-Qasim`Aisha said, "We set out with the sole intention of performing Hajj and when we reached Sarif, (a place six miles from Mecca) I got my menses. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to me while I was weeping. He said 'What is the matter with you? Have you got your menses?' I replied, 'Yes.' He said, 'This is a thing which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do with the exception of the Tawaf (Circumambulation) round the Ka`ba." `Aisha added, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives."  Sahih al-Bukhari 294
