Wyrd Sisters follows a similar plot structure to Macbeth from the perspective of the three witches, Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat Garlick in the small kingdom of Lancre. When King Verenice is murdered by his cousin Duke Felmet, after his ambitious wife persuades him to do so, the witches must smuggle the heir to the throne out of the kingdom and wait for him to fulfill his destiny, which just happens to be in the company of a traveling group of theater players. But when the Duke reveals himself to be anti-witch and the kingdom itself begins to wake up, the witches must take matters into their own magical hands...or broomsticks.
