We are dedicating the month of June to student-athlete entrepreneurs. During this episode, we hear from two athletes making a splash in the NIL world. Harrison Leonard, a walk-on kicker for the University of Notre Dame football team, explains how he co-founded Our Playbook. Harrison discusses how he helped connect his fellow student-athletes with businesses for NIL deals. Harrison officially entered the transfer portal in April of 2022 as a graduate transfer.

We also speak with Kaitlyn Hanna, who obtained a NIL deal with Superberries as a high school golfer at Westside High School. Kaitlyn describes how she and her father negotiated the deal with Scott Carlson, the CEO of Westin Foods, the parent company of the Superberries brand. As a part of the partnership, Scott offered guidance to help Kaitlyn grow her tee art business, Tee Art Creations.

We discuss our favorite recent nillies, including Nebraska Furniture Mart’s “Home Team” deal, Built Brands’ deal for BYU walk-ons, Topps’ new trading cards, and Roman Bravo-Young’s marketing deal with MMA manager Dave Martin.
