The audio is already posted to my Patreon in a patron-only level to allow my Patreon Patrons a chance to hear it first. Nancy Stohlman is the author of six books including Going Short: An Invitation to Flash Fiction (2020), winner of the 2021 Reader Views Gold Award and re-released in 2022 as an audiobook. Her fiction in...
Round The Fire Stories by Arthur Conan Doyle #2: The Beetle Hunter
March 23, 2023 22:42 - 41 minutes - 56.6 MBThis is a live read recording of a reading done for the Trotsdale Library of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Beetle Hunter" from his collection "Round the Fire Stories." As this reading is not done in a sound treated room there is a difference in quality between this and how I record for audiobooks done for or via ACX, Fiverr, or Findaway Voices. Recorded October 11, 2020 Processed October 20, 2020 Life got in the way of uploading to the podcast. It went up on Youtube the year intended though.
Round The Fire Stories (Conan Doyle) 1: Leather Funnel
March 23, 2023 22:29 - 36 minutes - 50.6 MBThis is a recording of a live read done for the Trotsdale Library in Second Life of the short story "Leather Funnel" from the collection "Round the Fire Stories" by Arthur Conan Doyle as part of my contribution to Halloween and Nightmare Night festivities. This book is in the Public Domain and freely available to download at Gutenberg.org. This is yet another catch up post that did not manage to make it over when it was supposed to. Not intended for children. As this recording had to be do...
Ame's Bookshelf Interviews: Interviewing Author and Actress Vaishnavi Macdonald
March 23, 2023 22:08 - 9 minutes - 13.3 MBI was given the opportunity to interview new author and longtime Indian film and TV actress Vaishnavi Macdonald after a referral by my friend Sanghamitra Dasgupta. Her book is available for pre-order and will be released October 1st, 2020. This was supposed to be posted October 2020 to the podcast (not just the vidcast) but chaos happened.
Chinese Folk Tales #18 The Pop-eyed Dragonfly and the Earthworm
March 23, 2023 21:48 - 8 minutes - 12.2 MBIn the old days they say body parts could be loaned. In this tale we learn why Dragonfly has such large eyes and why the earthworm has none. This was supposed to have been uploaded in October of 2020, but things were a little chaotic for me.
Flash Fiction Fridays #37: Delicious (Horror)
August 07, 2020 23:44 - 6 minutes - 6 BytesA pigeon begins to feed on his own and is kicked out of his flock. He makes some new friends and goes to a rather sad place with a flock of crows for some disturbingly strange fare. Questionable choices are made by our possibly misguided bird friend and he makes a grisly discovery. This short flash fiction of a horror is NOT for the squeamish.
Flash Fiction Fridays Bonus: Ame Reads: The Witches' Creed by Doreen Valiente
August 07, 2020 23:41 - 3 minutes - 3 BytesI am not feeling very well lately and have several illustrations to do as well as the writing for Flash Fiction Month. With two upcoming doctor appointments requiring long distance travel this month I will be slowing down. It has been a bit since a meditation or a poetry reading. With this in mind I hope you enjoy Doreen Valiente's "The Witches' Creed" as read by myself and set to music. It can be read here: https://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/bos083.htm
Flash Fiction Fridays #36: Ame Reads Chinese Folk Tales #17 Why Rabbits Live in Burrows
August 07, 2020 23:38 - 9 minutes - 9 BytesFor the 17th reading from this book for the Trotsdale Library enjoyment and discussion is the old tale of Why Rabbits Live in Burrows as collected by Louise and Yuan Hsi Kuo. Narrated by Teresa Garcia I forgot to mention this when recording but as a gun is implied in this tale I think it to be a more modern version. I can't imagine bows going bang instead of twang. However it should also be remembered that the Chinese had gunpowder first. It would be interesting to try finding an older vers...

Beltane Fire Cleansing Meditation
May 01, 2020 07:37 - 5 minutes - 6.93 MBThis is a very short meditation recorded for Beltane. Given more time I could have made it longer, but I have not had the time. This is not quite as ASMR inducing as I was hoping for. However there are a few triggers tucked in. Bonfires led in to the idea of camping, thus the chosen video clip. Music clips Bonfire by Alexander Nakarada, in the public domain used under creative commons, discovered at www.freepd.com Bongo Flute by Kevin Macleod, in the public domain used under creative commo...

Flash Fiction Fridays #31: Poetry In His Veins (Dark Fiction)
January 24, 2020 17:13 - 5 minutes - 7.36 MBToday's podcast episode is up with some poetry and a short dark fiction by myself. I actually GREATLY disturbed myself writing today's feature because "oh, I'll write about a writer that's snowed in" went to "it's the end for me, it's at the window" very quickly. I am still dealing with minor ear, Eustachian tube, and throat issues, and thus also am not speaking at normal levels, as well as having to rebuild filter curves for audio processing. Due to a variety of issues this therefore does ...

Flash Fiction Fridays #24: A Paleontological Nightmare
September 27, 2019 19:53 - 8 minutes - 8 BytesHecate is a nightmare that started out as a role play character. This is one of her adventures set previous to times when other players would have known her. A nightmare was said to sit on or lay their head on a sleeper, feeding off of the fear generated by a dreamer's bad dreams. Sometimes they were known to kill. Nightmares come in a variety of forms, from the well fed and darkly glowing black horses, to walking skeletons or skittering horse skulls. They show up in stories in various form...
Ame Reads: The Buffalo And The Tiger
September 27, 2019 19:48 - 9 minutes - 9 BytesMany old folktales can be considered as flash fiction today with how short they are.
