This week is part 1 of my chat with James & Matt from The Journey Through Sci-Fi Podcast.

In this episode we are discussing James's favourite film the 1968 original version of The Planet of the Apes.

Directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and Written by Michael Wilson and Rod Serling

The film based on novel ”La Planète des Singes” which translates as ”Planet of the Apes” but was originally published in the UK an US as ”Monkey Planet” by French author Pierre Boulle.

The story follows Taylor as he and his crew, Langdon, Dogde & Stewart start the 2nd 6 months of they 1 year journey - they have travelled faster than light and therefore although only 6 months has past for them 700 years has past on Earth. As Taylor starts the return journey and settles down to Cryo-Sleep something goes wrong the spaceship crashes and the crew wake to find themselves on a new uncharted planet, where humans are mute and hunted by the animals at the top of the food chain.....APES.

Taylor must prove himself to these apes in order to save himself and his species, but what mysteries will he find once he enters the forbidden zone?
