Defending a Serial Killer

In the criminal justice system, the People are represented by two important groups: the police who investigate crime and the District Attorneys who prosecute the offenders.

I think it’s safe to say that most of you are familiar with that opening to the successful TV show LAW AND ORDER. But the Defense Attorney is an equally essential party in our Criminal Justice System. It’s funny. When we are accused of a crime, rightly or wrongly, we want an attorney to protect our rights. But what about a serial killer? What are their rights? Do they have any? One attorney who believed a serial killer has an equal right to counsel is Jim Potts, who chronicled his moral and ethical conflict in his book “Defending a Serial Killer” and joins us now on MURDER MOST FOUL.
