HIGHWAYS ENGLAND TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR DISABLED DRIVERS

Highways England, in partnership with AccessAble, will be creating 360 degree images that will enable disabled people to see what the facilities are like at service stations, helping them to plan ahead. To read more about this excellent initiative, click the Motoring Research article here.

GOVERNMENT CLARIFIES PETROL FORECOURT USE

Last week the Government stated that drivers should not use service stations and petrol forecourts unless it is absolutely necessary. This caused a bit of a noise from petrol retailers, which led to a clarification of exactly what was meant. ROAD SAFETY REPORTING GUIDELINES

The Active Travel Academy has released suggestions for the media when reporting on road safety. This is heavily leaning towards cycling, as you would expect, but does reiterate the need to stop saying “accident” and replace it with “collision” or “crash”. NURBURGRING 24HR

Over the weekend was this year’s Nurburgring 24hr race, unlike last year’s ‘Sausage Watch’ thanks to Alan’s fixation of trying the wonderful culinary options at the race, no crowds were there. However, the race and weather did not disappoint. Thanks to horrific conditions there was a 9 hour overnight red flag, which bunched the field up again. All of which, combined with another unexpected rainstorm an hour before the end, meant the race was as exciting and unpredictable as ever.
