FOLLOW UP: VW NOT SHIELDED FROM MORE US FINES

Volkswagen lost a case, where counties from Utah and Florida were seeking damages in relation to #dieselgate. The court found that the legislation did not exclude state and local governments from fining VW, even though they had reached a settlement with the US Government. 197 CARS MADE IN APRIL

Unsurprisingly, car production was an incredibly small amount, compared to months prior to the virus crisis. Only 197 vehicles were built during April. To read more, click the City AM article here.

FRANCE ANNOUNCES CAR INDUSTRY RESCUE PACKAGE

President Macron has revealed a package to help the French car industry, with €8 billion being made available. Some measures include incentives for people to buy new, cleaner vehicles, however, it is not clear if this is a scrappage scheme. REBEL ALLIANCE ANNOUNCE CLOSER TIES

Renault Nissan and Mitsubishi announced their plan for closer ties and how to return to profitability. There will be more sharing of developed platforms, technology and design, including the effectively rebadging of cars for each of the brands. NFU GIVES FREE HOME RECOVERY COVERAGE

WRC has announced the prize for the winner of the latest WRC 8 e-racing championship, will be a Toyota GR Yaris. Not a toy, model or radio-controlled version, but an actual car.
