Bill O'Herron, LCSW is a corporate executive, practicing therapist, speaker and writer who uses his 32 years of sales management experience, 23 years of marriage, 15 years of counseling clients, and 7,500 hours of meditation to help clients understand, change and deepen their relationships. His research shows that relationships-marriages fail for one single reason: a lack of understanding of one's own emotions and reaction patterns created in childhood. He teaches that your marriage started in 4th grade, when your limbic body learned, inherited and absorbed your parents lives and experiences. We are all therefore initially married to our old, unconscious emotions more so than we are to our spouse. His work with archetypes demonstrates that marriage is not a single relationship but eight unique ones occurring all at the same time. Three key concepts he uses to accelerate client's work on their marriage are Stand in the Fire, 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, and Relatus, which are all pathways to direct work on understanding self. He celebrates in and humorously expounds on the belief that working on yourself, which will automatically improve the dynamics of all your relationships, is the most important thing in life, and that what we do right now in our relationship echoes down through posterity, changing who our grandchildren's children become.
