It’s inevitable - at some point in all of our lives, we will either have to undergo surgery or help someone recover from surgery. One thing that we can all agree on is that undergoing surgery is scary, and we all want the best possible results for ourselves or our loved ones.
I spoke with Christina Lawland, a senior researcher with Health System Analysis and Emerging Issues with the Canadian Institute for Health Information.
She told me that every two years CIHI updates Canada’s OECD international comparisons e-tool. It’s an interactive tool that allows you to see how Canada compares to other developed countries. CIHI decided this time to focus on patient safety and how our country compares to other developed countries.
