Vancouver city council is meeting today, and one of the items on the agenda is a motion that, if passed, could change the way the city deals with “aggressive dogs.” Councillor Pete Fry and Michael Wiebe have put forward a motion entitled ‘Relief and Rehabilitation of Aggressive Dog Designation’ which aims to change the way the city deals with dogs that have attacked another animal or human.

Vancouver’s current aggressive dog bylaw is similar to the bylaws currently in place in other municipalities in Surrey and Burnaby, so it will be interesting to see if this motion passes and if it has any impact on how other municipalities deal with “aggressive dogs”.
