The US House Judiciary Committee begins deliberations today on the articles of impeachment against U-S President Donald Trump. Voting is expected in a matter of days by the committee and by Christmas in the full House of Representatives.
If approved, the charges would then be sent to the Senate, where the Republican majority would be unlikely to convict Trump, but not without a potentially bitter trial just as voters in early presidential primary states begin making their choices. In their announcement yesterday, House Democrats declared Trump betrayed the nation with his actions toward Ukraine.

A federal judge in Texas has blocked the Trump administration from using $3.6-billion in Defence Department funding that was diverted from 127 military construction projects to build the wall. The Justice Department says it will appeal the ruling.
