It’s the final day of campaigning in the Alberta provincial election
Alberta's NDP leader spent the final day of the provincial election campaign casting herself as the best person to get the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion past the finish line.
Rachel Notley put on her hard hat and work boots as she toured a pipe fabrication yard in Calgary, a key battleground in tomorrow's election.
She says her work building pipeline support across Canada means Trans Mountain is close to having shovels in the ground.
Her chief rival, United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney, has criticized her government for dithering on pipelines and for collaborating with Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on energy and environmental policy.

How police in Port Moody are becoming more aware of the needs of people with autism
Police officers have to deal with many fluid and changing situations, and they involve a momentary judgment about how dangerous a situation can be.
Knowing how to deal with people and to recognize potential problems is absolutely paramount.
There is a new program developed by the Canucks Autism Network that is helping to train first responders all across the country in how to deal with people who are on the autism spectrum, in everything from recognizing the signs to changing approaches.
The Port Moody Police Department is undergoing the training, in part thanks to one of their own.
That is Rob DeGoey, whose seven-year-old was his inspiration.
Guest: Cst Rob DeGoey

Here’s why parents are being advised to practice ‘positive’ parenting
When it comes to children's social and emotional development, perhaps nothing matters more than healthy relationships - especially the ones with their parents. That's why the Canadian Paediatric Society is advising paediatricians and family physicians to help parents cope with the inevitable challenges that come with raising kids.
They're putting an emphasis on positive parenting - so that means moving away from punishment, and more towards empathy and communication.
Guest: Dr. Andrea Feller
Member of the Canadian Paediatric Society's Early Years Task Force

French authorities say there is no guarantee the Notre-Dame Cathedral can be saved
The fire chief in Paris says it's unclear if city firefighters will be able to keep a fire at Notre Dame from spreading and causing more destruction.
Flames already have reached one of Notre Dame's towers and brought down the church spire that extended 96-meters-high.
French President, Emmanuel Macron, is treating the fire gutting Notre Dame Cathedral as a national emergency. France's civil security agency says ``all means'' except for water-dropping aircraft were deployed to tackle the blaze. The defence agency said those were unsuitable for fires like the one at Notre Dame because dumping water on the building could cause the whole structure to collapse.
