Manager of Sunshine Cabs criticizes Vancouver Taxi Association

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena  says they’re working with taxi companies to ensure people with disabilities are not left without rides. Trevena’s comments are in reaction to the news taxi companies are parking their wheelchair accessible cabs to protest ride-hailing companies being allowed to operate, even though running those accessible cabs is part of the taxi companies licences. Trevena was speaking with Simi Sara on the CKNW Morning Show.

Gurdip Singh Sahota, General Manager of Sunshine Cabs in North Vancouver was born with clubfoot which meant he was unable to walk until the age of 8. He says he’s furious that the Vancouver Taxi Association is refusing to subsidize accessible vehicles anymore. He calls the move indefensible.
