Chapter 3

Is the New Zealand terror attack work of a lone wolf, or signs of growing extremist views?

New Zealand is a largely peaceful country, where we don't often see signs of the kind of extremism we've just witnessed.

But the internet, with all its echo chambers, and the ability for anyone to live-stream whatever they like, is changing the way terror attacks are planned, they way they're carried out, and the way in which extremism manifests itself.

Kamloops gang violence reaches ‘unprecedented’ levels

It's the middle of March, and there have already been THREE gang murders in the city of Kamloops.

That's unprecedented. And if you cast your mind back to January 23rd, we brought you the news that two people were killed in separate incidents at motels and hotels in the city.

And on February 15th, a long-time criminal was shot to death inside of a townhouse complex.

Now, the RCMP is telling the Vancouver Sun that Kamloops is taking its cue from drug and gang politics in the Lower Mainland. And that big-city crime is making its way to Kamloops.

Spice bags, taco fries, and chicken fillet rolls: here are some modern Irish dishes you may not have heard of.

Well it’s St Patrick’s Day on Sunday, and many of you will be thinking of delicious and traditional Irish cuisine, like Irish stews, soda breads, and of course, a creamy pint of Guinness.

But there are lots of modern Irish takes that have entered the culinary scene in recent years. Some of them are great at any time of day - and some of them are great when you feel like throwing the diet out the window.

And the good news is: you can try these modern Irish dishes right here in Vancouver.

Chapter 7

New Zealand mourns the victims of Friday’s terror attack in Christchurch

An immigrant-hating white nationalist armed with at least two assault rifles and a shotgun is the suspect in the deaths of at least 49 worshippers attending Friday prayers at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

He wore a helmet camera and live-streamed the massacre on social media. He also posted a 74-page manifesto on social media identifying himself as a 28-year-old Australian who was out to avenge attacks in Europe perpetrated by Muslims.

The gunman acted alone and says he chose New Zealand to show that even the most remote parts of the world were not free of “mass immigration.”
