Governor General Julie Payette is urging Canadians to never forget the sacrifices of veterans and the costs of war, in a touching video tribute released ahead of today's Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Payette says many veterans returned to Canada wounded in their body and their soul -- while many did not return from the battlefield at all.

She made the comments in an online video that was posted today.

A group of junior Rangers flew to the remote B.C. ghost town on Anyox last month to ensure the fallen soldiers from the First World War buried in the now-abandoned mining town are not forgotten.

We’re preparing here on the west coast for the moment of silence at 11am. Out east, the Remembrance Day has been taking place in Ottawa. The wreaths have been laid, and now Canada continues to remember.
