It’s been a part of the commute for many of us in Metro Vancouver: picking up a free copy of the Star Metro Vancouver.
Today was the final edition of the newspaper. From now on, they’ll have an online offering.
The changes meant that 73 staff were laid off across the country. The papers in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Halifax are also ceasing publication today.
As we know, there are plenty of news organisations that are experiencing challenges at the moment - so what does the Star Metro closure say about the state of journalism in Canada as 2019 comes to a close?
