Metro Vancouver residents take to social media to bemoan Halloween fireworks

Did your pet hide in terror from the fireworks and firecrackers last night? Did you have trouble getting to sleep last night due to the loud booms and bangs last night? If so, you are not alone! Many social media users voiced their displeasure over the fireworks last night, and one of them was our very Keith Baldrey.

Private Cannabis Shop in Kimberley B.C. Scores Victory

Tamarack Cannabis Boutique in Kimberley B.C. is celebrating today, after receiving a license from the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis regulation branch. Back in 2016, the owner of Tamarack Cannabis Boutique made history when she became the first person in B.C. to be awarded a municipal licence to operate a medical cannabis dispensary.

Ottawa wants to create new protected areas for killer whales off B.C. coastThe federal government wants to create new ocean sanctuaries off the British Columbia coast as part of an additional $61.5 million it is spending to protect endangered killer whales. Fisheries and Oceans Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said Wednesday the government wants to establish new areas of critical habitat off the west coast of Vancouver Island for southern resident killer whales.

Government says the public will finally see the ridesharing legislation at the end of this month

Before the end of this month we will *finally* get to see the government's ridesharing legislation. But first, Transportation Minister Claire Trevena says they are completing phase one - increasing the number of taxis in BC.

So far there are about 160 applications - the goal around 500. Ridesharing has been a long time coming. The government campaigned on it being in place for last Christmas (but then commissioned reports on it instead) The previous government promised it before that.
