Legal experts say a climate change lawsuit that's set to be filed today in Federal Court in Vancouver, is potentially precedent setting but will be a tough case to argue.

It's being filed by 15 youths who allege they've suffered specific injuries due to climate change.

The lawsuit calls on the federal government to stop conduct that violates their charter rights and to implement a plan that reduces Canada's greenhouse gas emissions.

None of the charter claims have been tested in court.
