Concerns over quality of care have prompted the Vancouver Island Health Authority to appoint an outside administrator to take over the running of the Selkirk Seniors Village in Victoria.

It's the third facility operated by Retirement Concepts to come under government management.

In a statement to the Simi Sara Show, the chief operating officer of the company that operates the facilities says she recognizes that this is "unprecedented".

Jennie Deneka tells us: "Unfortunately, our collective efforts have not produced the results required to ensure full compliance of licensing.

"As a result, an administrator has been appointed to oversee the day-to-day operations of residential care, and will review and make recommendations to enhance or improve our processes."
