Lenore Skenazy has been fighting against helicopter parenting ever since 2008 when she published her controversial and eye-opening column about letting her then 9-year-old ride the subway home alone. That inspired her to found Free-Range Kids, which consists of a book, blog and movement dedicated to the belief that kids are not in constant danger. Her book is titled Free-Range Kids, How to Raise Safe, Self-Reliant Children (Without Going Nuts with Worry). Lenore is also president of Let Grow, a non-profit organization that promotes independence for kids. Previous to these roles, Lenore was a reporter-turned-columnist at The New York Daily News for nearly 14 years.

In this episode, Lenore tells Hilaria and Daphne about the virtues of allowing children to be reasonably more independent and take more chances. She says that letting kids play on their own can free them from fears and allow them to problem solve on their own, which will only benefit them as they mature.
