If you haven't gotten enough of me through The Feminist Tea Party, you can get your fix through my new podcast, "Mixing it up with Maggi."

I'll be interviewing my favorite pals for a conversation on everything from motherhood, social activism, sex, career and much more. Listen in every Wednesday night through SoundCloud or catch it on demand here on myefflinglifeblog.

On this episode, I connect with Destiny, my former "work-wife" and a good friend. Though she left New York City for Dallas, Texas she hasn't lost her city style and attitude. Destiny and I met two years ago while working in a public access television station. We worked in the education department serving youth interested in media, journalism, and production. During my time there, Destiny gave me the 411 in the world of community media, social organizing and activism. I'm so very thankful to her for sharing this other side of media making; media-making with a purpose. Destiny's guidance has shaped not only how I look at the media, but how I converse with others and how I write my stories. She's also my social media guru, always teaching new ways of interacting in this ever-changing world of social media. It's no wonder she was the perfect person to speak about social media activism.

We discuss what is social media activism, how impactful it is and what are some steps to take to become more socially conscious when interacting online.
