Most bulbs that you plant in the fall are hardy in cold climates and will come back year after year if cared for properly. After your tulips, daffodils, and any spring-flowering bulb is done blooming, you need to leave the leaves on the plant until they start to turn yellow if you want them to come back the next year. Do not braid them or tie them back...
