Takeaways From This Episode

Never settle for a needs-based mentality.

Every church has needs-based issues but we shouldn’t allow those issues to drive what we do on a day-by-day basis. Those issues will always be there but instead, have a ministry-based mindset with Jesus as the head of the church. He knows what all of us need before we even know we need it. Trust God and He’ll help us develop a process, and we’ll find that capacity within the people He’s already given us.

Be believers in people.

Position your whole team (staff and volunteer leaders) to see the leadership potential inside of them. This can change the idea of how you and other leaders in your church see people. Examine your filter: What is the lens you see people through? How do you view the volunteers in your church? Do you see people as the leaders they have the potential to be?

Matt Keller quoted John Maxwell as saying that the average person has no one in their life who they truly believe, believes in them. Posture yourself as a “crazy believer” in people.

There’s a wealth of opportunity in the people God has given us. There needs to be processes in place that allow them to self-identify, get on the team, and then be developed. [Click to tweet]

We’ll discuss a little bit of everything from lessons learned from churches doing something really well to the nitty gritty of how to develop leaders on your staff to how to use social media for your church to how to foster worship leader development.
