This month in a change of pace I'm going to be discussing something that means a lot to me: The Wonder Years (the rock band from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, not the Fred Savage led TV Show of the same name) and how their music has been helpful to me over the last decade. My friend Gus (who you might remember from the Steven Universe episode) was nice enough to come in and steer the ship for these particular episodes. In part one we talk about how I found the band, "bad news about Ginsberg", gaslighting and the collapse of my support structure in 2012, panic attacks from end times theology at the age of 12, when I got sick, explaining what living with anxiety is like and "Passing Through A Screen Door", how I interact with music and why, the reason I generally don't recommend music to people and "the age of irony" of the 2010s, thematic and lyrical continuity across albums, "The Greatest Generation" and socio-economics, for some reason we discuss me playing drums growing up, an ever increasingly restrictive diet, and we wrap the episode up with that time I caused a drama club walkout in high school.

Also mentioned in this episode:
Fireworks
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Hold Steady
The Mountain Goats
David Bazan

Mindful Self Indulgence is hosted, produced and recorded by Dan Ellis.
Intro and outro music for every episode is also written, performed and recorded by Dan Ellis.

*Apologies for the audio issues (and the fan)in this episode and the next one. Working on addressing these issues moving forward. Also, I stammer more than usual so, my bad for all the "ums" and "likes" for those sensitive to that sort of thing.*
