As we rely more on internet access in our daily routines, it's important to know that our community has easy and affordable access to high-speed internet services. While some areas of the High Country are well covered by broadband services, others are not as fortunate.

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology has deployed a survey to better understand how broadband penetrates individual communities and neighborhoods across the State. The data collected will be used to better analyze areas for future resources and investment, informing policy-makers on key areas of the State where broadband services must be improved and modernized.

Amy Huffman, Digital Inclusion & Policy Manager for the NCDIT shares details on the survey, why the information is important, and what the State intends to do (and not do) with this data.

Mind Your Business is produced weekly in partnership with High Country Radio and Appalachian Commercial Real Estate.
