Previous Episode: 54: Todd Crandell
Next Episode: 56: Grace Lindell

Richard McChesney found himself being unable to participate in the running and triathlon events due to injury. At which time he took up long distance race walking.

Richard is originally from New Zealand but currently living in the UK. We talk about some of his biggest challenges. He has completed 27 walks longer than 100 miles and in this interview we speak about some 250 mile events. Not a typo 250 miles of walking.

We discuss walker only events called Centurions and how you can find them. I found the link for Centurions in the US .

Richard shares his experience with the Lon Las CYRMU Ultra which is 253 miles. (note: not at all sure how to pronounce that word ... it's Welsh). 253 miles is very long and there is plenty of time for adventures. We talk about a levi's commercial which you can find on Richard's blog but also here is a link. https://youtu.be/GayQNwxchMA

We chat about how to manage food and also technology like a Garmin watch for an ultra event that might be 88 hours long.

I love to learn about new ultra events like this. We discuss another special event called the Tunnel you can find that here. http://www.thetunnelultra.com
