Over the past four decades in the U.S., at least at a popular level, the ground beneath our feet has shifted. We’ve moved from a Christianized culture (a mixture of Christian and pagan ideas and then, later, secular ideas) to what social critics call a “post-Christian” culture. Society sees the church as irrelevant at best, and extreme at worst. Your faith can be private, but don’t bring it into the public square.
