This is Part 2 of a 3-part series. Listen to Episode 40: The Murder of TIm Bosma first.

Here we have another instance where an adult goes missing, and police write it off as a runaway situation.  23-year-old Laura Babcock was last heard from in early July 2012 and family and friends knew she wouldn’t just walk off. Despite their efforts to file a missing person report and interview the last-known person to speak to Laura, they were unable to find her.

But then in May 2013, the last-known person to speak to Laura was arrested for the murder of Tim Bosma.

This is the story of a “bubbly” daughter, sister, friend, and dog-mom that hit a rough patch in life and turned to someone she trusted for help. How police made assumptions about that rough patch and didn’t follow through to find her. And how those assumptions ultimately led to the murders of 2 men.

Dellen Millard and Mark Smich were arrested for the murder of Tim Bosma; and it was only then, that police looked into Laura’s disappearance.
