Archbishop Emeritus Sylvain Lavoie is Chaplain, Spiritual Director, and Presenter for the Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. He is a missionary Oblate who has spent over 30 years ministering among the Indigenous peoples of north and central Saskatchewan, including three years as director of an archdiocesan team that offered sessions on faith renewal, leadership and community development. He was part of a First Nations ministry team and a member of an Oblate Cree language learning community. He has authored four books: Drumming From Within (stories of faith and hope from Canada’s north), Together We Heal (a 12 Step approach to the healing of sexual abuse), Walk A New Path (addictions awareness), Still Green and Growing (spirituality for the second half of life), co-authored with Keith Hoang Built For Greatness (a Christian version of the Tao Te Ching) and is working on the fifth book on self-awareness and learning to love ourselves. Archbishop Sylvain has been journeying with people on their spiritual path for over 40 years. His method of spiritual accompaniment is to listen to the story, affirm the person, prayerfully discern the movement of the Spirit in the person’s life, connect faith and scripture with life, and provide gentle direction for moving forward towards healing and greater wholeness. This podcast will provide daily biblical homilies connecting faith with life, as well as other inspiring messages centered on personal growth, inner healing and human development.
