Sermon Outline:

One of the biggest mysteries in history: the rise of Christianity

Jesus’ message:

1. Not a new ideology

• Not to revolt against the Romans (Matthew 21:21; John 18:36)

• Not to deny Judaism (Matthew 5:17)

2. The core is Jesus Himself

• He is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16)

• Seeing Him is seeing the Father (John 14:9)

• He is life (John 1:4; 10:28; 14:6)

3. Resurrection is the only reasonable explanation (John 20:1-9)

• First group of witnesses were women

• Disciples’ first reaction: nonsense (Luke 24:11)

• John: saw and believed

• Disciples’ subsequent transformation (Acts 3:15)
