Giving and receiving gifts at Christmas is special. There is no doubt about it. Children especially enjoy the excitement of asking for gifts, then waiting for gifts, then finally, opening their gifts. Yet even adults find a special joy in exchanging gifts at Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, we heard and sang of the greatest gift ever given. While that is a rather bold claim, it is true. You see, that gift—God’s gift—is found in a “poor, lowly stable, with the oxen standing by.” That gift was given to you, for you to give you hope. Through God's Word, we understand why God’s gift is the greatest gift ever given, and we look forward to seeing that gift in heaven where God’s “praise will sound” for all eternity!

The Bible reading for this message is Luke 2:10-14.

Video of our Christmas Eve worship services and this message can be found here and here.

This message is Part 1 in the Christmas series: The Greatest Gift.
