Cantor Vera Broekhuysen of Temple Emanu-El of Haverhill discusses a variety of topics with WHAV morning personality Win Damon, including remote meetings such as the upcoming Yom HaSho’ah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Author Helen Epstein and interfaith clergy help Haverhill’s Temple Emanu-El hold its annual service commemorating Yom HaSho’ah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, this Friday night, online.

Epstein is a veteran arts journalist and the author, coauthor or translator of 10 works of nonfiction, including the trilogy “Children of the Holocaust,” “Where She Came From: A Daughter’s Search for Her Mother’s History” and “The Long Half-Lives of Love and Trauma.” She is also the editor of Franci’s War, the recently published memoir of the Sho’ah written by her mother, Franci Rabinek Epstein.

The service also features traditional Sabbath liturgy, songs and readings, and will include the participation of Rev. Frank Clarkson of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill; Rev. Sarah van Gulden of Trinity Episcopal Church, Haverhill; Rev. Zac Harmon, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Hampstead N.H.; Rev. Kit Lonergan, St. James, Groveland; and Fr. John Delaney, Sacred Hearts Parish, Haverhill.

The Holocaust Remembrance Day service takes place Friday, April 17, 7 p.m., via Zoom. Those wishing to participate are asked to email [email protected] to obtain the meeting ID and password.
