Back to work after recovering from her own bout of the coronavirus, Haverhill Public Schools Director of Health and Nursing Services Katie Vozeolas talked about her experiences during a live interview yesterday over WHAV.

Vozeolas, who appeared by telephone, noted her initial symptoms March 17 were not what one would expect.

“My symptoms were really gastrointestinal and headache and I really didn’t have any of the respiratory systems until several days into this process,” she said.

She said her experience is a lesson for others. “Pretty much any symptom that you’re having that is really unusual for you is just something to be cognizant that it could be COVID-19, and you should just stay home and physically isolate from others.”

She agrees with people wearing face covering when possible to, at least in the case of the schools and meal sites, have teachers wear masks when coming in to pick up supplies to protect custodial and food service staff, for example.

The entire interview with nurse Vozeolas is available on WHAV’s “Merrimack Valley Newsmakers” podcasts, available at WHAV.net as well as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Google Podcasts, TuneIn and Alexa.
