Braves GM Talks Trades and Connection

In a recent talk at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Alex Anthopoulos, the General Manager of the Atlanta Braves, discussed the Braves' impact on local communities, his managerial philosophy, and recent trades. He emphasized the importance of sports as a community connector and highlighted the team's recent acquisitions of pitcher Chris Sale from the Boston Red Sox and outfielder Jared Kelenic from the Seattle Mariners.

He also stressed the importance of not getting overly fixated on winning the World Series. "I never view it as 'World Series or bust,'" he said. "Only one (team) of 30 is going to win the World Series. So, I think if that's the way you look at it, it's going to be a hard way to go to work each day."

Anthopoulos shared that while player trades aren't his main focus in the off-season, fans should never expect the team to settle. "If (a trade) is the right decision for the team, I'm all in," he said.

Business leaders in the audience resonated with Anthopoulos' emphasis on teamwork and informed decision-making, drawing parallels between sports and their own professional lives.
