Grown from solo project of New Plymouth frontman Jake McComb – son of O Juliet – three-piece Viices makes it to our weekly Making Tracks feature.


Their latest single 'Breath' signals a new direction for the Wellington-based band. Much more rooted in rock and punk, rather their indie beginnings, 'Breath' deals with the frustration of imposter syndrome and difficulty of balancing creativity with the reality of needing to work, though the lyrics are tongue-in-cheek as Jake lightly mocks himself for being "so dramatic"


While the genre may be a bit of a  change, there’s still plenty of familiar style both lyrically and musically to the band's earlier work, as well as having creative input from Taranaki local Sam Johnson of Rhythm Ace.
