Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men. According to the American Cancer Society 2022 statistics, close to 270,000 cases are expected to be diagnosed in the US this year alone, and approximately 34,000 men will die of prostate cancer. Early detection is an important tool in getting appropriate and timely treatment.

During this episode of Banner Health’s Making the Rounds podcast, we are going to be discussing Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA testing; what it is, what it means, and what are the outcomes in early detection of Prostate Cancer. We will also be addressing some of the controversy around PSA screening and studies that challenge the risks vs the rewards of early screening.

The guests for this episode are Dr. Joseph Mashni, Urologic Oncologist and Dr. Alex Bowman, Medical Oncologist, and the co-Directors for the Genitourinary Multi-disciplinary Program at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.
