It’s good to be aware of when we’re talking just to talk or if we’re talking out of a place of insecurity or if we’re talking because we really believe it will foster a sense of connection. None of those reasons are inherently bad but we also need to recognize that we really don’t have to work so hard. Sometimes a simple no thank you is plenty of explanation. Sometimes a deep dive into your why isn’t warranted, expected, or appreciated. You are allowed to be a mystery to people without having to worry about how they interpret that mystery.
