Vicki and Ollie talk about the news in Spain and interview George Dudfield from SOPPA in Andratx.

Is our island increasingly a place of the “haves” and the “have nots”? Over in the Andratx area the site of some of the world’s most expensive real estate you’ve got to say that we might already have reached that condition. Certainly in the last year where there has been little work available you have to wonder how anyone living in the area has survived. This thought also occurred to George Dudfield and his dad Alec. George moved to Majorca thirteen years ago with his family. He is now a 21-year-old university student, and in his third year reading Management and German language and culture at Lancaster University, but like all students he is currently studying online. We went to meet George to chat about a project which has grown from idea to reality.

Britain’s exit from the European Union has hit Spanish imports from Britain in the first two months of the year as new EU trade rules disrupt trade flows across the Channel.

Spain’s imports from the UK decreased 49% in the first two months of the year compared with the same period a year ago.

The Small Businesses association PIMEM and the association of Majorcan Restaurateurs (Arema) have demanded that the Balearic government allows bars and restaurants in Majorca to open inside to clients “with immediate effect”, in view of the fact that the island is now on level two health risk.
