On today’s episode, I’m talking to professor of sport administration Dr. Erianne Weight about improving your weaknesses.

Erianne is a professor at UNC Chapel Hill where her research and work focus on joining the not-all-that-different worlds of athletics and academics. A former heptathlete herself, Erianne knows what kinds of lessons student-athletes learn on the field and is shining a light on the prejudices that keep athletics out of academia. Early on in her career, Erianne tackled her fear of public speaking with the same kind of deliberate practice she had mastered as an athlete until it became one of her strengths.

We talk about:

How Erianne followed her passions in her career and now can look back and connect the dots in unexpected ways. Erianne’s deliberate work to improve her weaknesses. Reframing imposter syndrome as the logical outcome of pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones.
