#139 - Back From Beyond

Hello friends,

Mick and Nathan here. On Wednesday evening we recorded a podcast. We hadn’t a story prepared, which is something we do regularly enough - but we realised after it’s getting harder and harder to mine an hour’s worth of craic over a video call when we’ve all been detached from each other for what’s coming up on a year now. We need to do something.

This podcast has always been a vehicle for myself and himself to make people aware of the other stuff we were doing: Songbook, The Also-Rans, EP launches and album releases. We’ve been unable to do that stuff, so at times we’ve felt unsure about what the podcast was supposed to be. Loads of you started donating to the Patreon to help us deal with the loss of these shudders revenue streams, a hugely appreciated gesture and one that tells us there are people who want us to keep going. So for those people...

We’re going to write and record an album together. Yous have all been turbo sound with your donations- they’ve helped us buy equipment, put on shows and dug us out of holes when the work dried up. Assuming these aren’t pity pounds, it tells us you must like what we do, so we’re going to do what we hoped the podcast would allow us to do. Make music for our audiences.

We don’t know what shape this will pan out in. We’re not ones for meticulous planning. If you’re reading this and electing to follow, you’re on board from day one. Imagine if it’s a disaster. It could ruin everything. The Maddest Notion of all. But sure, half the craic is in the trying.
