One of the main factors of congregations who have changed from struggling to thriving, from unhealthy to healthy is prayer. Thomas and Samuel Rainer devote their lives in helping congregations who are struggling to be more effective in mission and ministry have identified in their work how important it is for the congregation to have people who are dedicated in praying for the congregation's life and people. Now this is not a new thing, but something that has been evident from the early Christian communities, in this week's reading from Colossians 4:2-13, Paul talks about a person called Epahras who wrestles in prayer, not for himself, but for God's mission that is taking place in and through a number of congregations. So this week we explore further the importance of prayer for all of us who are involved in God's mission and ministry.
