This movie was filmed on location in Connecticut.Meadowbrook Farm in Marlborough, CT

Taking the Reins was previously titled Love at the Steeplechase.Filming wrapped in July 2021.The production company for this movie told Hartford Courant that leaves would be digitally recolored.

Spoiler alert: Wendy says that the kiss between characters Sam (Nikki DeLoach) and Luke (Scott Porter) was the hottest kiss she's seen from ANY Hallmark movie this year. The chemistry between Nikki DeLoach and Scott Porter was perfect. Great casting!
