Gonzaga Bulldogs in the NBA season preview: Wizards forward Rui Hachimura

The NBA season is nearly here, and as many as 10 Gonzaga Bulldogs could suit up for various NBA squads this year, a testament to the high level recruiting and player development Mark Few's program has going on in Spokane. Today's episode is a preview of one of Gonzaga's most decorated NBA stars, Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura.
We discuss Hachimura's history, going from garbage time player to 20 point per game scorer with the Zags, and eventually getting selected ninth overall in the 2019 NBA draft. We look at the first three seasons of his NBA career, including his performance in the Tokyo Olympics and his absence last year for mental health issues.
We also take a look at the best and worst case scenarios for Rui entering his fourth NBA season and his final year of his rookie contract. We evaluate what his fourth season might look like, how his role and production will shake out, and which other teams may covet him at the trade deadline or in free agency next year if Washington doesn't re-sign him.
