The New York Yankees beat the Houston Astros, 4-3 at the Stadium on Thursday night but the big news was Anthony Rizzo going on the IL with concussion symptoms. Were the Yankees negligent? Despite the commotion on the internet, the answer isn’t black or white. Then we recap Thursday’s victory, which wasn’t as crisp as Wednesday’s against the Rays, but it did the job. Clarke Schmidt pitched solidly in his five innings of work, and Giancarlo Stanton and Billy McKinney went back-to-back to open up an early 3-0 lead. Of course, the Astros came back and tied the game but Anthony Volpe provided the go-ahead hit, and the bullpen, after Wandy Peralta, shut down the Astros.
