Wild Squander Another Winnable Game against Buffalo to Finish the Road Trip

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we recap a frustrating 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres to cap a disappointing road trip at 1-2. We start by discussing the impact Jared Spurgeon's return had on the Wild special teams, with arguably their best performance of the season still not being enough for the Wild to win. We discuss the different culprits for losses this year seemingly rearing their heads at the most inopportune times, and how the Wild not being able to overcome one or two mistakes is worrisome. We look at the overall shooting numbers for the Wild this season, with some concerning numbers regarding blocked shots and shots that miss the net altogether. We discuss how when you take those two numbers out of your total shot chart, it leaves you with very small percentages to work with for your actual shots on goal, and in the case of the Sabres game how you can get a ton of high danger chances and shots from up close, and the Wild are still missing those too. We finish with a look at why it seems like there are two different sets of expectations for this team that are being used interchangeably where they shouldn't be.
