On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we gear up for the Wild's third game of the year and their home opener against the Winnipeg Jets. We look at why the Jets are 0-2, with the main culprit being a dreadful start on the Power Play and Penalty Kill. The Jets have only killed 6 of 10 penalties to start the year and have yet to score on the Power Play themselves. Those are the biggest culprits despite other numbers looking good for the Jets.
We also look at what has led to Connor Hellebuyck's bad start to the year. While the play in front of him hasn't been very good, Hellebuyck has also not helped matters himself. We examine his peripheral stats compared to his career averages and when we can expect him to turn it around. We finish the episode by looking at the keys to the Wild improving to 3-0, which include avoiding a slow start, the bottom 6 winning their matchups, the defense continuing their strong start and capitalizing on Power Play opportunities.
